“There’s a problem” words no one wants to hear.

“But…” the word hoped for next.

“There are things we can do.”

Glorious things! The heart should sing.

But no song comes.

Possibilities are rattled off;

None of these ideas are easy.

None mean certain success.

Really, they are like trash strewn along a path.

Colorful, artistic even, but in the end,

still empty leftovers, reminders of life.

So then the choice is,

Don’t start up that flight of stairs or,

Declare each step ordered by faith,

Taken by hope in the unseen.

And maybe pick up garbage along the way.

Wow what a photo by Roger Bultot that we had to work with this week at Rochelle Wisoff’s Friday Fictioneers 100 word photo challenge. Why not give it a try by going to her web-site and joining the party!

Better that than leave life’s troubles festering.

Oh wonderful, if only we all could agree on doing this, cleaning up the first step.

Funny–your title made me think we were talking about a litter of puppies :). Quickly dispelled, and deftly written.

Thanks, I think a puppy story would have been a good idea!

    Dear Clare,

What a lovely metaphore for our life’s journey. Pick up the garbage along the way is great advice. 😀

Thank you Rochelle! We can only hope to eave this earth a little better off than when we arrived! Well at least in the lives of those around us.
