It is true that a phone can both connect and disconnect people.

The other day I was on the phone with my sister and we got to talking about a girl’s weekend out.

Little Myra started pulling on my arm.

“Mama I gave Froggy a bath.”

“That’s nice Sweetie.”

“And Kitty, Birdie baby and…”

My mother ears perked up.

“I’ll call you back,” I told my sister.

I followed the wet footprints. When I peaked into the bathroom I saw she had indeed given her toys a bath. They were in the tub and…

the toilet was overflowing with bubbles.

So cute the way the little girl came and told her Mommy what she did.

Am I reading this wrong? You seem to be telling the story in the first person, but then the sentence “My mother ears perked up.” seems to suggest otherwise.

Thanks for your comment…to clear up the confusion. It’s not ‘my mother’s ears’ but ‘my mother ears’ as in my ears that are hearing the child in the midst of distractions. I appreciate the comment! I’d rather know where my writing is weak and unclear then get a thumbs up!

‘Mother eyes’ refer to one of a few ‘mother superpowers’..
A ‘mother look’ is a common one, meaning when no one can find it, we have a. ‘Mother look’.
Using a ‘Mother voice’ is another one. I use it when my softer tones aren’t getting through…especially with telemarketers lol

That’s my take on ‘Mother eyes’ anyway 🙂

    Dear Clare,

Littles can be so resourceful when mom’s on the phone, can’t they? Cute story.

Oh, I was hoping she didin’t flush, too. A nice bubble bath in the toilet, wins the toy a quick spin in the washer I guess. A fun and cute story.

Always be leery when the little ones are too quiet… Luckily this one decided to tell Mommy what she was up to! A story we all (parents) have an inkling of… Fun stuff, Clare.

Yes, this is what young children do trying to copy their parents. Funny though.

Can’t take your eyes off a small one for a moment… At least the toys are clean.
