A 100 Word Story

He asked the sage,

“If you take something beautiful and put it with something ugly, which is lessened?”

Her reply,

“Which is the ugly? The rusted, broken engine or the spindly, weedy flowers?

The spider’s web that fills the interior or the captive fly that fights for its life?

The hedge that swallows everything parked near it or the truth that the owner couldn’t pay his bills?”

“The ugly,” he said. “Is the tow truck coming to dismantle the inspiration of joy in the midst of ruin.”

The answer,

“As it tows, all will see. Beauty will shine ever further.”

Another amazing photo at Rochelle Wissoff’s Friday Fictioneers 100 word challenge. This one not so much a story but some philosphizing. I hope we hear a little of what the true story is behind this photo by Fleur Lind. Here’s hoping your day or night, includes some beauty, enough to remind you, it’s not all ruin. Good can rise out of brokenness.

Indeed, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This or that can bee seen so many different ways. Great story.

Clare, I enjoyed your lesson in relativity. Every thing is a “this” or a “that” depending on its context.

Beauty can be seen in everything – if it’s far away enough. 😁

The sage is wise indeed, there is beauty in so many unexpected places; our job is to look.
