Petie was king of the junk yard.
He and five other dogs but he had the best nose.

He could tune out gasoline, rotting seat cushions, the stagnant pools of rusting parts.
He trotted through the passage between cars.
New arrivals meant interesting finds and he could smell one as he lifted his nose to the air.
โWhat are you on to Petie, a bag of chips, stale cigarettes, breath mints under the seats? What is it?โ
A bloody knife stuck in the door pocket.
Not a snack, but officer Brown rewarded him with a new bone.
A good day!
Iโm not going to lie, I was inspired with the junk yard dog after reading Rochelleโs post for this weekโs Friday Fictioneers. As in, โbad, bad Leroy Brown. Baddest man in the whole damn townโฆโ. Hope all the dogs in your life have a good doggy day! Best, Clare
