No one likes to go out in rain; the cold driving kind that sinks into the bones.

But I’m out in this rain because I left the apartment after Mom threw a vase at me.

It was plastic, but still, she was clearly in a mood.

I don’t want to be around when she’s like that.

I made her mad, again. I should have put the leftovers in containers; not shoving the pot in the fridge, but the brutal graveyard shift left me devoid of the strength to do anything.

But now I’m out in the rain, so there’s that.

I didn’t go too deep with today’s 100 word story generated from Rochelle Wisoff’s Friday Fictioneer’s photo challenge. The photo provided is the property of David Stewart.

Update on the house—the one “As-Is”, Unfortunetly the inspection revealed a significant issue with the crawl space. It had a makeshift sump pump for one thing. We backed out. They have since fixed that issue, but there’s more things wrong that don’t make it a good fit anymore. We’re up to eighteen houses viewed with every house having some weird issue—cracked foundations, mystery rooms with questionable walls, electrical outlets hanging out of the wall, road noise that destroys the bucolic yard, houses so close we might accidentally enter the wrong house (lol), AI enhanced photos that are vastly different than real life (windows sealed with duct tape), the list goes on.We are tapped out in believing we’ll find a house any time soon even with a healthy budget.

Fortunately, we are not homeless, just not living in the proximity of family like we want to.

May your home be happy, even if it’s not where you want it to be!

Best, Clare

Sad to say, I can relate to this story. Good luck with the house hunting, it’s never a fun endeavour but you will find the one eventually.

It isn’t always easy for mothers and daughters.

Sorry about the house, Clare, but it sounds like it’s for the best. Hopefully the right house will come your way before too long.

    Dear Clare,

Mom might have overreacted a bit. 😉 My husband and I are guilty of shoving the pot or pan into the fridge. Good one. All the best on the house.

    Shalom,

Sounds like this isn’t an isolated incident. Hoping once she’s had enough, she’ll start brainstorming ideas for escape.

So sorry the home search isn’t working out for you and your significant other. Home maintenance is no joke!

My wife might complain at me if I did such a thing, but she wouldn’t throw things at me. :-O
