Pecking Order

I am a charlatan, among charlatans,
In a crowd of clowns,
Dancing and smiling,
Wearing faces that don’t belong to us,
Waiting for our chance in the spotlight,
Watching from the sidelines,
Believing, knowing,
When the next person drops the mike,
One of us will pick it up.
