There’s a decision point.
When a choice must be made.
You can say, ‘whatever’ and jump in,
abandon the moment of uncertainty, of blindness.
But that word will only echo over the path
you walk on, like a taunting bully.
Look ahead,
as far as your foggy eyes can see.
Where will those footprints fading into the future take you—
Away? Towards? In circles? Off a cliff to a darker place than your present abode?
If you stumble, you will fall.
Close to the ground, tasting dust,
Finding that no matter where you are,
You can look up.
The days chase you,
But the road is still there,
And decision comes again,
Like an old friend,
Ready.
