A Dystopian tale of hard times, good friends, love and mistakes

Do you have the Kindle App? Do you have an Amazon account? Then you can read “Take My Hand”. Avery, Dana, TJ, Tarah and friends live in the compassionless world of 2062.

When I say the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer, you may think, that’s today, 2024. Only in this future America, the government is unconcerned about quality of life for all of her citizens. Only those who already have enjoy this new version of the American dream. The country offers the rest of the people conscripted jobs. Work or go hungry. Crime in the working-class districts (grey and white) is rampant and unchecked. Charity among the poor is meager. Charity from the rich requires humility to receive and sometimes freedom. There are few ‘rags to riches’ stories. It’s just not possible.

Avery Smith however has pulled it off, not only moving from the grey but to the green district as the youngest billionaire in a half century. His life mission is to single handedly turn the tide and give people hope. He starts with TJ pulling him out of drugs and poverty on the streets.

TJ meets Tarah while fooling her that’s he’s still from the street, needing sympathy and still hooked. It’s all a game for him as Tarah makes him part of the all-girls friend group. The girls wrestle with his supposed addiction but like to have him around. But then TJ realizes Dana is not a rich girl, she just has rich friends. He has found a gem.

Dana lives in the grey and works for a major company, H&B as an intern on a two-year probation. She puts in long hours, puts up with her bosses’ unsolicited touches and walks on a razor’s edge wondering if she will be on the street if she makes a wrong move with her boss and her ‘friends’.

TJ wants to help Dana, so he arranges for Dana and Avery to meet as though by accident. He doesn’t count on Avery falling for Dana or what Avery is willing to do to save her from the evils of H&B.

How will this play out? Will friendships grow or be disintegrated by lies, false intentions and a chasm too wide? Will they survive 2062 or find that for the first time they can actually live?
